The fourth race of the GOC inland championship proved to be yet another great event for the riders of McGee Yamaha. They were welcomed at Lekoa Lodge on August 2 where a tight battle continued between the top racers.
With only a few points separating the top competitiors in the OR3 class, leader Kevin Jansen van Rensburg secured another win while Yamaha claimed the next three positions with BJ Scholtz taking second, Paul Calitz third and Riaan Prinsloo fourth. Although Johann Lubbe couldn’t claim first place this time, he still remained in the front, leading the OR1 class after four races and managed to extend his overall lead in the championships.
Clifford McGee finished ninth in the open class giving him 12 points to add to his season leader board moving him up the field. Another Lydenburg rider on his Yamaha YZ250, Wikus Oliver, finished first in the OR2 class for the day followed by Craig Gregory with just 15 seconds parting the two racers leaving no room for error. In the masters class, showing that the older guys still have what it takes, Louis Jacobs from Lydenburg took first place and moved up the log into second place for the season so far.
