On November 6, 65 students completed their studies and graduated in plant production.

MASIBEKELA – On November 6, 65 students completed their studies and graduated in plant production. This came to light during an event held at Khiphulwazi Farmers Association office in Sibange.

The students received NQF-level qualifications after completing theoretical and practical training with Hygro Training College (Pty) Ltd.

According to the Nkomazi training manager, Mr Ntando Magagula, the facilitation took a period of three weeks to accomplish and the lessons were conducted at the farmers association office. They had to study and finish seven modules to qualify.

He said that their future plans were to train more people in the Nkomazi Area, and added that the programme was funded by AgriSeta. Mahlalela told the graduates not to look down upon the certificates they had acquired and to be mindful of opportunities involved in agriculture.

“The skills and agricultural knowledge you have received can take you places, provided

you make good use of it and remember we cannot transform our country, especially in this sector without enough education.”

He furthermore advised the graduates to listen to agriculture-based radio programmes.

Among those who received certificates, was Cansas Mkhabela of Madadeni, who said she would cherish the opportunity.

“This certificate means a lot to me and it will open doors for me. It has elevated me to the standard of other farmers. Farming is something that I enjoy doing and with the knowledge I have acquired, my life will change for the better,” Mkhabela said added.
