Suspect arrested for house robbery, murder and rape

Police have arrested 32 year-old Mr Caswell Ngomane, for house robbery, murder and rape in the Nkomazi area.

TONGA – Police have arrested 32 year-old Mr Caswell Ngomane, for house robbery, murder and rape in the Nkomazi area.

Police officers were investigating a house robbery case which in KaMhlushwa, where a mother and her children were robbed of money that belonged to the church, as well as cellphones and other house items.

During the investigation they arrested Ngomane who was found in possession of one of the victims cellphone.

It was furthermore revealed during interrogations that Ngomane was linked to a rape and murder case in Masibekela trust during which the deceased was shot in front of his girlfriend and the latter raped.

Ngomane also led police to other items which he sold to a 60 year-old man in Mbuzini, Mr Albert Shekwa.

Shekwa was also arrested for being in possession of a stolen plasma television, and Mr Nando Mashabane (38) was arrested for being in possession of laptops which he had bought from Ngomane.

Ngomane told police that the firearm he used to commit the crimes was with his girlfriend in Block C, and she was then arrested for being in possession of an illegal Z88 pistol.

Ngomane has appeared in court and is remanded in custody. Police are expecting to make more arrests as he has mentioned other people whom he had apparently collaborated with in other crimes.

The estimated value of the stolen items is R150 000. Community members who had lost property are advised to come forward and identify their belongings at the Tonga Police Station. Police are furthermore warning the community not to buy anything that is sold to them at discount prices in street as they are going to be arrested.
