19 injured on Long Tom Pass

LONG TOM PASS – A total of 19 people were injured when a truck crashed into a tree near Misty Mountains this morning.
According to Mr Jaun Beetge from ER24, they found a forestry truck carrying workers, wedged up against the tree when they arrived on scene.
“The occupants that were sitting on the back of the truck were found sitting and lying around the vehicle,” Beetge explained.
He said no one sustained serious injuries. “The patients were fortunate to only sustain injuries ranging from minor to moderate.” They were, however, transported to Mediclinic Nelspruit for further medical attention.
Although the cause of the accident is still unknown, Beetge said it was understood that the truck lost control, causing the vehicle to roll back and crash into the tree.
