A wine or two you can invite into your home

Guests received a hands-on, fuss-free crash course in everyday entertaining.

Locals were treated to a wine-and-dine experience with Two Oceans and Get it Lowveld at the beautiful Orange Restaurant in Mbombela on Tuesday.

Five wines from Two Oceans were paired with a variety of convenience foods that you always have in your kitchen or on your grocery list. We’ve all been in the situation where impromptu guests force us to raid the cupboards for something to nibble on, but some snacks just won’t work with the taste profile of certain wines. Winemaker, Pieter Badenhorst – all the way from Stellenbosch – guided the guests through each wine and suggested what would work with that specific type. There was a selection of chips, olives, biltong, prawn crackers and dried mango nibbles – most of these are always present somewhere in the cupboard.

Two Oceans, over 20 years old, takes its name from two great oceans, the warm Indian and the cold Atlantic, that converge along the southern Cape coast of Africa. The energy released by their coming together is the inspiration for their refreshing and delicious wines that are easy to drink and easy to pair with people, parties and great food. Their wines are sold in over 100 countries at a very affordable price.
Guests received a hands-on, fuss-free crash course in everyday entertaining. The delicious, fresh and fruity range of Two Oceans’ range of red and white wines brings affordable enjoyment without compromising on quality.

The wines are crafted by the warm sun and cool sea breezes, conditions ideal for the slow ripening of the grapes, intensifying their flavours to produce well-balanced, enjoyable wines. On the label the aerial impression of the Cape Peninsula’s coastline, close to where the cold Atlantic and warm Indian oceans meet, is given greater prominence, reflecting the direct impact these two oceans have on the climate of the Western Cape and the growing conditions for its vineyards.
Badenhorst and his team decided on Mbombela because they feel that smaller cities get left out. After experiencing the beautiful sunset, they knew they had come to the right place. After the wine tasting, Orange served delicious canapés and lots more wine were enjoyed.
