Karabo Home With Family
The delighted family members sang for joy to welcome their own. The short and timid vocalist entered the gate with smiles and a cheerful face.
MBOMBELA – The family of the of 11th South African Idols winner, Karabo Mogane, had a short gathering to welcome the star back home on Tuesday afternoon.
The atmosphere in the house painted a picture of a united family that supports one another in everything. The delighted family members sang for joy to welcome their own. The short and timid vocalist entered the gate with smiles and a cheerful face.
Nothing much about Karabo’s personal life has been written because he prefers to keep it that way. But when Lowvelder pried he told his story frankly. “Nothing has really changed for me. I am still the same person that I was before I entered the competition. It’s just that more people know me now, ” he said.
More ecstatic are his parents, Sylvia and Mike Mogane. Sylvia said that the family was thankful for what God has done for them. “It hasn’t been an easy road to travel. Sometimes it was so hard to stay faithful, but we prayed to God for power and guidance,” she said.
For Karabo, the competition has taught him a lot about music and what kind of genre suits him best. “I identified myself as a musician and I learnt what kind of genre I would like to venture into. I also grew as a vocalist. When I look back at where I started and where I am right now, I have grown tremendously as an artist,” said Karabo.
Karabo added that the journey had been long and it was a great achievement for him to be where he is now. “The favour fell upon me and I thank God for that,” he said.
Karabo said he made sure that whenever he encountered his fans he made time for them, posed for a picture and let them know how much he appreciated their support and love.
That was evident when the star visited Ford Riverside dealership to collect his new Ford Figo.
Shortly after his arrival the whole dealership was full of supporters wanting to pose for photos and shake hands with him.
The dealership also offered transport to the Mogane family so that they could go see and support their own performing in Pretoria during the competition.
Karabo said he had Idols to thank for growing as a musician. “The experience that they gave me, money can’t buy. I feel very blessed,” he added.
Later on the day, the new star was joined by some of the finalists from the competition for a homecoming concert at Mbombela Stadium.
Scores of locals came to watch him perform in his home province for the first time since winning the competition.
