Folk-rock artist energises the crowd with her music

KAAPSEHOOP – Everyone was in a jovial mood at the Bohemian Groove Cafe and even a cold Sunday breeze failed to dampen their spirit, as Heather Waters delivered hit after hit from her latest album.
Waters is currently touring the country, and the continent, promoting her latest work. “I travelled all the way from Wilderness in the Western Cape to perform in Mozambique at a festival called the Subterranean Rhythm & Blues experience, then I went on to perform in Pretoria, before coming down here to Mpumalanga. For me this place is a jewel, a hidden treasure that I don’t want to tell anyone about it. It is so unique, the weather and the atmosphere – I just love it,” she said. Waters previously performed in the Lowveld in 2010.

Since the release of her new album in January, Castles & Towers, two of her songs have topped the South African music charts.
Over the last decade, she has been touring, writing and creating a definite style and sound to her work. Her songs and performances burn with energy that was commonplace back in the 1960s. Touring in her 1975 VW camper van, Waters sings of “love revolution” and entertains audiences with her foot-tapping folk-rock music, lyrical humour and barefoot pop-rock approach.
