Post office is closed due to alleged non-payment of rent

When Nelspruit Post visited the area, customers arrived and then left disappointed after the realising that the doors had been chained.

Post office users in town were  left stranded on the early morning of
Tuesday last week when the Riverside Post Office was closed due to an alleged failure to pay rent.

When Nelspruit Post visited the area, customers arrived and then left disappointed after the realising that the doors had been chained.

One customer, Thando Ndlovu, said she came to the post office to pay her municipal rates since its workers are quick to assist customers.

“The service is quick here and there are hardly people coming in but now I will have to go to the municipality offices to pay my bills and there are long queues there,” she lamented.

The workers at the post office were not sure why it was closed but they assumed it was due to rent not having been paid.

The newspaper called the area manager who referred it to the head office in Pretoria but the phone rang unanswered.
