WARNING: Mbombela Municipality on high alert as Dineo zeroes in on the Lowveld
Although Dineo has been downgraded to a tropical depression, it still caused a lot of damage today and Mbombelan's are cautioned to be on high alert

MBOMBELA – With Dineo covering a lot of ground and widespread rainfall in Mpumalanga, the City of Mbombela Municipality is on high alert following reports of imminent effects of the Cyclone Dineo as forecasted by South African Weather Services. A contingency plan has been put in place to respond to situations of flooding and disaster that might arise. Some areas received approximately 30mm of rain in the last 24 hours.
Communities are urged to be on the lookout for dangerous situations and stay clear from such.
According to warnings sent out by WeatherSA, Mpumalanga is on high alert until 24 February for heavy rain, flash floods, strong winds and severe thunderstorms.

In the meantime, countless reports of severe damage have been streaming in on social media.
Lynn Retief, owner of Guinjata Dive Centre in Mozambique was struck with tragedy when Dineo completely destroyed the centre.

According to the South African Weather Service, heavy rains and possible flooding can be expected in parts of the Lowveld from tonight.
Dineo has lost some of its velocity and is currently circling at speeds of 51 to 62 kilometres per hour. This does, however, not mean that the storm is over as it can still pose several dangers to the Lowveld.

Extensive damages were reported in Mozambique with several houses, businesses, lodges and infrastructure being damaged during the course of last night. In some cases, buildings were completely destroyed.
