TRAC is prepared for the Easter weekend
Will you be travelling on the N4 over Easter weekend? Find out how TRAC plans to assist motorists and manage the busy traffic.

MALALANE – Motorists can expect high volumes of traffic to move through Nkomazi via the N4 from 12:00 to 22:00 today and again on Monday.
Trans African Concessions (TRAC) will once again host its Easter Road Safety Campaign at Alzu Petroport near Middelburg and specific spots along the N4 as part of their efforts to decrease incidence of road accidents. Emergency services and TracAssist will be stationed at the popular rest stop from 10:00 to 22:00 on both these days to enable quick response.

Participating emergency services will include private and public ambulance services and paramedics, fire and rescue, provincial traffic, SAPS, pathology units and TRAC Accident Response. Smaller units will also be stationed at Bronkhorstspruit, Milly’s, Mbombela and Pessene Weighbridge in Mozambique.
The TRAC Helpdesk is the first to be alerted of incidents on the road and therefore plays a vital role in this project.
Operators will be on duty throughout the campaign to notify and call out the emergency services teams from the central dispatch areas and to keep motorists, media and all relevant parties up to speed on traffic conditions throughout peak periods.
TRAC will be working with the Lebombo Border Control Operational Coordinating Committee to assist with traffic management measures en route to the border post, as masses of people cross the border during this time each year. They will help to distribute traffic control flyers and provide several logistical requirements to prevent major delays and disruptions around the border.

In order to avoid traffic congestion, construction and maintenance work will be halted on the South African side of the route over the weekend. Road users are, however, urged to apply caution when driving through construction areas, as the sites are still active.
The only area which will be operating during this period will be at Section 16 between Moamba Plaza and Moamba/Boane Interchange in Mozambique. Construction in this section is at a delicate stage and the permanent stop/go sign in place will continue throughout the long weekend.
For enquiries, to report an incident or request aid, contact the TRAC Helpdesk on 0800-87-22-64 in South Africa or +258-84-34-34-34-6 in Mozambique.
