Association fights for residents’ rights
Local property owners are urged to join forces and help the Marloth Park Property Owners Association (MPPOA) in their efforts to improve life in the town.

MARLOTH PARK – MPPOA is a voluntary community organisation which was formed more than 10 years ago. They aim to help conserve the pristine nature and character of the area, to work with the Nkomazi Local Municipality to achieve goals relating to service delivery and environmental conservation management and to endorse and support all best ecological practices in conjunction with the municipality, the Marlothii Conservancy, the Marloth Park Honorary Rangers, the Marloth Wildlife Fund, Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency, SANParks, and the Department of Veterinary Services.
The non-profit organisation is governed by a committee that is democratically elected by its members at an annual general meeting. This year the meeting will take place on Saturday April 15, at Henk van Rooyen Park at 10:00. All property owners are urged to attend to discuss issues that impact the community.

Some of MPPOA’s past achievements relate to the dumping site, firefighting and law enforcement. The dumping site is one of the most recent successes. After many years of lobbying, the site was cleaned up and changed to a transfer station. Waste will now be recycled and collected in skips and removed on a weekly basis to a licensed dumpsite outside the conservation area.

As the risk of veld fires is very high and the closest fire department is in Komatipoort, MPPOA used various initiatives and worked with the Lowveld and Escarpment Fire Protection Association to train people as firefighters and purchase, upgrade and maintain water carts in case of emergencies.
To maintain Marloth Park’s serene environment, law-enforcement officers (LEOs) were trained and equipped in collaboration with the local community policing forum and SAPS.
