Alarm activation cuts short armed robbery

Quick-thinking led to five armed robbers getting much less than what they bargained for last week.

The suspects, among which four were armed with pistols, entered through the fence where local resident, Mr Winston Scorgie lives. While the gardener led two men around the front of the house, the others gained entry over the garden wall. As the suspects met in front of the garage, four of them broke the garage door open and entered.

In the meantime, the gardener kicked the knife out of one of the men’s hands.

He ran away, and the gardener dashed to hide in the bush. Inside the house, the four robbers found the housekeeper who pressed her Spes-Plan panic button.

When the alarm went off, the men only had time to grab about five bottles of hard liquor, and break the hi-fi from its mounting on the wall. They quickly fled the scene, disappearing the way they had come in.
