Summerhill Prep recently set up a table at Hazyview Junction to collect money and blankets from the public in aid of SizaBantwana.
SizaBantwana is a non-profit organisation that works in the rural communities of Bushbuckridge. The school collected R7 174, enough to buy 170 blankets. Seven blankets were donated, which brings the total to 177.
Summerhill also collected blankets from parents during May, making the grand total of blankets collected 226. These will soon the be donated to SizaBantwana. Summerhill has also registered for the The School SleepOut.
Winter blankets needed by orphans
Pupils will sleep out on June 24 at the school, joining other schools across the country in sympathy with the homeless. Part of this project is to collect items for vulnerable children, which Summerhill Prep has done by collecting blankets. Camryn Griebenow, Tokollo Lekhuwane, Mikateko Shabangu and Busani Dibakwane.
