Cell phone stores targeted in I’langa break-in

It is unclear how the four suspects gained entry into the mall at approximately 02:00 on Friday morning.

MBOMBELA – The police have confirmed there was a break-in at I’langa Mall in the early hours of Friday morning.

Four armed suspects gained entry at two shop entrances, stealing two cell phones from Telkom and most of the stock from the Vodacom shop.

According to Capt Dawie Pretorius, when the suspects were confronted by mall security guards, they shot at them and managed to escape. No one was injured.

It is believed the suspects were travelling in a Mercedes.

Petorius added that a possible connection to previous incidents at the Mbombela mall is being investigated.
