Guess the right number and you could win!

For 20 years Anne-Mari Gavin has been collecting money for the Wish List for Older Persons. Her latest initiative involves a beautifully crocheted blanket, and hopes that the people of Mbombela will get involved to help those who cannot help themselves.

“There are many elderly people who battle to survive on a state pension of just R1 600 a month. Most cannot afford to move to old-age homes and have very little money to pay for food and medical costs. Many of those battling have kids living overseas and their children don’t care about their situations,” Gavin told Nelspruit Post.

“Our Wish List for Older Persons decided that it is high time they reciprocated the goodwill and cooperation received from all our wish-list donors throughout the years. We have a crocheted blanket up for grabs for anyone who can accurately guess how many edge trimmings have been added to the perimeter of the blanket.”

Seventy-year-old Gavin, a senior citizen herself, said any monetary donations towards the cause will be greatly appreciated. She added that donations of wool would also be welcomed.
