Community will always remember Mr Water

A memorial service will be held at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, White River today.

Well-known local, Hall Deeks, also known as White River’s Mr Water for 40 years, passed away at his daughter Penny Vlag’s home in Pretoria on Friday.

A faithful servant of the Lord, he served the Calvary Assembly of God Church as founder member, treasurer and elder. He was secretary to all the water boards in White River and the surrounding areas for many years. He also served as bursar of Uplands School and College for many years. All knew him as a man of integrity, a true gentleman, incorruptible and honest to his bones.

He leaves his beloved wife of 62 years, Trish, five children, Jayne, Penny, Phillipa, Jeremy and Jake, his grandchildren Vaughn, Julian and Nathan, Jethro and Bridget, Jarrod, Christopher, Fynn, Elouise, Nakita and Noel Jayden and his brother Roy Deeks and sister Beryl van der Merwe.

According to his loved ones, he touched thousands of lives during his long years on this earth and they rejoice knowing that he is now safe in the arms of his Saviour, Jesus. “There will be a party in heaven to welcome him home,” they said.

A private cremation will be held in Pretoria and a memorial service at the Brooklyn Methodist Church. A memorial service will be held at the Calvary Assembly of God Church, White River on Monday July 31 at 10:00. Any donations will go towards caring for Trish.
