Friends and family mourn death of MP Timothy Khoza
Local ANC members, family and friends of Mr Timothy Khoza are mourning his death after he was killed in a car accident near Paarl in the Western Cape on Wednesday morning.
MALALANE – The dedicated Member of Parliament (MP) was travelling for an oversight visit to schools with three other members of the Basic Education Portfolio Committee, when their vehicle collided with another and overturned.
Khoza was killed, and Nomalungelo Gina of the ANC, Ian Ollis of the DA and Cynthia Majeke of the UDM were seriously injured.
The minister of basic education, Angie Motshekga, was shocked and saddened by the death of Khoza.

Khoza joined Parliament in 2014 as a Member of the National Assembly and served in the portfolio committees on basic education and small business development.
According to a parliamentary statement, Khoza was known among his colleagues as a “devoted public representative with untiring commitment and dedication to the service of the people”.
Khoza lived in Nkomazi and is a family member of the executive mayor, Cllr. Thulisile Khoza. He was well-known in the region and regularly attended various events and meetings to stay abreast of developments in the community. One special visit was to mothers of New Year’s babies in hospitals in Nkomazi last year.
Officials of Nkomazi Local Municipality were deeply saddened by Khoza’s death.
