1 000 trees to be planted on RCL Foods’ local farms

In celebration of Spring Day, RCL Foods' agricultural team at Mhlati will be planting 1 000 trees on RCL Foods farms during September.

MALALANE – To support Heritage and Arbor Month, RCL Foods’ Sugar and Milling Agriculture team planted the first of 1 000 trees on September 1.

They considered this a practical and symbolic gesture of sustainable environmental management.

Mhlati team planted 80 trees along a small stream that runs across the farm, as well as the Mhlati Farm offices and village on Friday. They specifically chose indigenous trees like figs, tamboti, bushwillow, water pear and jackalberry.

At one point the farm had to cut down an extremely large jackalberry to pave way for an irrigation system, so they decided to aid the environment by planting more trees.
