Municipality invests in the community with state-of-the-art facility

A state-of-the-art community hall worth about R20 million was officially opened in Block B by the Nkomazi Local Municipality on Tuesday morning.

TONGA – Community members gathered at the KasiBhejane Block B Community Hall on Tuesday morning for the official opening of the state-of-the-art facility.

It has the capacity for 1 000 people and includes a library, computer lab, sound equipment room and studio space and admin offices.

This is the first time the community in Nkomazi East will have access to a state-of-the-art hall and they are excited about the possibilities of such a facility.

Addressing the community during the opening, Mayor Thulisile Khoza stated that the municipality has invested money to build the facility but that it remains the responsibility of the community to ensure it is taken care of for future generations.

“This is a public hall for community use, for the elderly, disabled and orphans. Pensioners will utilise this place to get their pension money instead of having to wait in the burning sun or under trees. The facility can also be used by schools to write exams,” Khoza said.

The Nkomazi Local Municipality Mayor, Cllr. Thulisile Khoza, unveils the new community hall’s commemorative plaque.

The mayor told members of the community that they can also utilize the facility for hosting events by contacting the municipal offices.
