Hunt for suspects who kidnapped and hijacked a police officer
The policeman was driving in his white Ford Bantam bakkie when the attack occurred.
MALELANE -Police are looking for three unidentified suspects who mugged a police officer last Friday night. The 43 year-old police Sergeant who works at Mbuzini, was driving in the area when he was accosted by the men who hijacked his vehicle and kidnapped him before dropping him in the bushes at the neighbouring trust of Phiva.

According to police spokesman Col Mtsholi Bhembe, the information they received, was that the policeman was driving in his white Ford Bantam bakkie when the attack occurred. “One of the suspects pointed a firearm at him. They took the vehicle and two cellphones, tied him up and drove away with him to the trust.”
Bhembe said the police officer struggled until he managed to untie himself in the early hours of the following day. “ He went to the nearest house to call for help.

The vehicle was recovered parked at an unoccupied house from neighbouring Schoemansdal, no arrest was made. Anyone with information that may assist in arresting the perpetrators is urged to contact Lt Coll Lindiwe Nobunga on 082-464-6332 or to call the SAPS Crime Stop number 08600 10111.
