The Mpumalanga Tourism and Parks Agency (MTPA) were monitoring the lions and planned to dart them and take the duo back to the KNP. However, the lions stayed in bushy areas and made their way back across the river.

Cyclists and joggers can resume travelling their normal exercise routes in the area but are requested to remain vigilant.
