UPDATE: Wife speaks about mysterious attack on plot on Uitkyk Road

Desmond Molenaar was brutally attacked in the family's home on Wednesday evening.

MBOMBELA – “I just screamed and ran to the children’s room to push the panic button.”

These are the words of Nancy Molenaar after her husband, Desmond, was attacked on their smallholding on the Uitkyk Road on Wednesday night.

According to Nancy, she and Desmond were sitting in the kitchen right before the attack happened.

“Desmond was sitting next to the window when we saw two men approaching.”

She jumped up and, screaming, ran to their eight-year-old twin boys’  bedroom. She pushed the panic button and stayed with the children.

She has little recollection of what happened after that and cannot remember where she found her husband.

Desmond was severely beaten on his head and in his face with what is believed to be a pole.

Police said his wallet was taken. They are investigating the attack.

He is being treated at Milpark Hospital in Johannesburg.

According to Nancy the doctors are keeping him sedated and he will undergo surgery this afternoon.

“I am very worried,” Nancy said over the phone. Her voice hoarse from the screaming.

“Luckily I have a big support system and we are all praying.”
