Passionate soccer fan needs new wheelchair
Community members need help to replace the wheelchair of young resident of Dindela Village near Hectorspruit, so he can continue to watch the community soccer matches he loves.
HECTORSPRUIT – Despite his dilapidated wheelchair, Skhumbuzo Madonsela cheerfully navigates the difficult terrain to the soccer field to watch community members whenever they play.
The 17-year-old resident of Dindela Village was born with legs only formed down to his knees. He is passionate about soccer and supports local teams at every practice and match. His brother, Sthembiso is a member of Hectorspruit United. Skhumbuzo also loves watching South African teams on TV. He is a huge Kaizer Chiefs fan.

He is very dependent on his wheelchair for mobility, but it is very old and in a bad condition.
Resident and soccer coach Simon Mabaso called on community members to open their hearts and help Skhumbuzo buy a new one. This will enable the soccer fan to get around more easily and continue to enjoy his favourite sport.
Mabaso explained that Skhumbuzo was born and raised in Dindela and lost his parents some time ago. Sthembiso works on a local farm and has been taking care of him since, but the family is struggling to make ends meet.

Skhumbuzo was never able to go to school and spends his time hanging around the community. According to Mabaso, he likes company, laughing and joking with friends. This makes him forget about his disability. The community knows Skhumbuzo as a kind person who never complains about his circumstances.
