Stabbing and shooting over the weekend
A 17 year-old male learner was allegedly stabbed six times in the back outside Watershed School on Friday afternoon.
According to his mother, the boy, who is a prefect at the school, had got into an argument with another boy in the school bathroom.
The other boy told him he would meet him after school just outside the premises. Her son, accompanied by a friend after class, went outside where they were accosted by the 19-year-old boy and his friends.
“He then stabbed my son in the back.” The boy went to a clinic on the N4 for treatment. “When my family phoned me and told me he had been stabbed, I rushed my son to Urgent Care at Sonpark where they checked on his injuries.”

Watershed School principal, Collin Nkwati said he was informed about the incident on Monday morning. “I am busy writing a letter to the police commander.
I want them to come and educate the children about bullying. We see this constantly on social media about schools countrywide having acts of violence, we have to put a stop to this.”
He said the school was busy with the police investigating the matter. “We will take measures against the guilty parties as soon as we are briefed about all the information.”

Police confirmed that a case of assault with the intent to do grievous bodily harm had been opened. No arrests have been made as yet.
Police spokesman Capt Zandile Gwaqa stated that an attempted murder case was opened after there was a shooting incident at Nutting House Lodge on Sunday morning.

“At the moment what we can establish is that a guest was out of control at a party that was held at the lodge. He apparently damaged vehicles and attempted to attack people.
There were shots fired and the man was injured in his legs.” Lodge manager, Ronnie Munro said the lodge had been closed for a private 21st birthday party.
“It was only family and friends that had attended. Later on that night one of the guests got unruly and Hi-Tech security officers were called in to control the young man.”
Security tied him up with cable ties while discussing with family if he should be taken to the police cells for the night or if it was going to be handled privately with his family.

“The man got loose and then started damaging vehicles and getting violent with other guests. Warning shots were fired and then he was shot in the leg.
The security called an ambulance and police to the scene.” Gwaqa said at this stage the shooter was known to the police but an arrest had not been made, possibly due to the circumstances.
Munro concluded that the incident had been an isolated one as they have had no other problems at the guest lodge.
