During her cricket career she has captained the SA u/18 indoor girls’ team, the SA schools girls’ B-team, the Mpumalanga girls’ u/19 team and the Uplands girls’ first team, and was the vice-captain of the Mpumalanga women’s team.

On September 4 this matric pupil played her last Ehlanzeni girls’ cricket league match for Uplands, which they won against Hoërskool Bergvlam.

In December she will take part in her sixth and final Mpumalanga schools cricket match at the South Africa national girls’ u/19 week.

Karen van Wyk, Katie’s cricket coach, said she is extremely proud of her achievements. “Since my involvement in girls’ cricket at Uplands, I have admired Katie’s dedication to the sport. She has grown into a phenomenal young woman who captains the side with confidence and fairness.

“She is always willing to help coach the younger girls and inspires them to strive for greatness. Under her leadership, I have seen the girls develop into exceptional young cricketers.”

Van Wyk said her achievements are testimony to her talent, dedication and mental strength. “She works incredibly hard at improving her game all the time and just simply enjoys her time out on the field. We wish her all the best for her future.”
