Five things to consider when dealing with failure

Failing is not easy although there is a way to cope.

The matric results were recently released and maybe you did not make it and you are feeling down. Failing is not easy although there is a way to cope.

According to www.verywellmind.com, knowing how to cope with failure in a healthy way takes some of the fear out of failing and it might reduce the pain so you can bounce back better than ever.

Ways to cope with failure, according to verywellmind.com:

1. Embrace your emotions

– Failure is accompanied by a variety of emotions; embarrassment, anxiety, anger, sadness, and shame to name a few. Acknowledge how you are feeling and let yourself feel bad for a bit.

2. Recognise unhealthy attempts to reduce pain

– Distracting yourself or filling the void you feel with food, drugs, or alcohol wont heal your pain either. Those things will only provide you with some temporary relief.

4. Acknowledge irrational beliefs about failure

– You may have developed some irrational beliefs about failure at some point in your life. Perhaps you think failure means you are bad or that you will never succeed. Those types of beliefs are inaccurate.
