STEELPOORT – In an attempt to bring relief to communities affected by the lockdown and Covid 19 coronavirus, the youth in Steelpoort initiated a foundation to assist the needy and vulnerable families .

Letsogo le Lefang (The hand that gives) foundation raised money to buy groceries to 30 families in the Ga Phasha,Mampuru and Longtill villages.
The foundation consists of local entrepreneurs and mostly workers from the nearby mines in Steelpoort.
They all have a sole target, which is to assist the needy and vulnerable.

The donors started with the handing over of the groceries on Wednesday morning.
These families were astonished when they saw three bakkies loaded with groceries.

The parcels included bags of mealie meal, rice, sugar, beans, flour, tinned food, cooking oil, tea, washing powder, potatoes, onions, soap, Goldi Mixed portions and many items.
Letsogo le Lefang members also revealed to the Steelburger/Lydenburg News that they will be donating R100 worth of electricity to the families.
“We realised that some of the local villagers are in need and decided to assist. The first donations will be handed to the 30 families. In the coming weeks, we will also reach out to 50 more families in and around Tubatse,” said a member of the foundation Kgoroba Theledi.

The good Samaritans also pleaded with other community members to join this initiative.
“We are pledging for support from other locals as well as businesses in Fetakgomo Tubatse. Working together, we can improve the lives of the needy and vulnerable,” added Jack Dikotope.
