Covid-19: Death toll rises to 341 yet active cases decrease to 1 228 in Mpumalanga
South Africa has recorded 625 056 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Sunday, August 30. A total of 24 123 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 22 563 recoveries and 341 deaths to date.
The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:
Ehlanzeni District
• Bushbuckridge: 686 cases, 640 recoveries and six deaths
• City of Mbombela: 3 990 cases, 3 698 recoveries and 26 deaths
• Nkomazi: 1 863 cases, 1 762 recoveries and six deaths
• Thaba Chweu: 351 cases and 326 recoveries and one death.
Gert Sibande District
• Chief Albert Luthuli: 654 cases, 608 recoveries and five deaths
• Dipaliseng: 327 cases and 315 recoveries and one death
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 865 cases, 798 recoveries and 14 deaths
• Govan Mbeki: 3 284 cases, 3 109 recoveries and 28 deaths
• Lekwa: 1 064 cases, 954 recoveries and 55 deaths
• Mkhondo: 489 cases, 438 recoveries and 21 deaths
• Msukaligwa: 1 389 cases, 1 270 recoveries and 40 deaths.
Nkangala District
• Dr JS Moroka: 352 cases, 328 recoveries and seven deaths
• eMakhazeni: 372 cases and 331 recoveries and 12 deaths
• eMalahleni: 5 043 cases, 4 817 recoveries and 48 deaths
• Steve Tshwete: 2 362 cases, 2 175 recoveries and 43 deaths
• Thembisile Hani: 605 cases, 569 recoveries and 20 deaths
• Victor Khanye: 436 cases and 425 recoveries and eight deaths.
