Covid-19: Mpumalanga death toll rises to 351 yet active cases decrease to 1 157
South Africa has recorded 628 259 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Tuesday, September 1. A total of 24 447 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 22 939 recoveries and 351 deaths to date.
The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:
Ehlanzeni District
• Bushbuckridge: 695 cases, 652 recoveries and six deaths
• City of Mbombela: 4 071 cases, 3 779 recoveries and 26 deaths
• Nkomazi: 1 896 cases, 1 803 recoveries and six deaths
• Thaba Chweu: 355 cases and 338 recoveries and one death.
Gert Sibande District
• Chief Albert Luthuli: 662 cases, 624 recoveries and five deaths
• Dipaliseng: 331 cases and 319 recoveries and one death
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 864 cases, 804 recoveries and 14 deaths
• Govan Mbeki: 3 341 cases, 3 153 recoveries and 28 deaths
• Lekwa: 1 055 cases, 970 recoveries and 55 deaths
• Mkhondo: 490 cases, 450 recoveries and 21 deaths
• Msukaligwa: 1 419 cases, 1 285 recoveries and 40 deaths.
Nkangala District
• Dr JS Moroka: 355 cases, 334 recoveries and seven deaths
• eMakhazeni: 384 cases and 342 recoveries and 13 deaths
• eMalahleni: 5 100 cases, 4 880 recoveries and 57 deaths
• Steve Tshwete: 2 391 cases, 2 208 recoveries and 43 deaths
• Thembisile Hani: 600 cases, 573 recoveries and 20 deaths
• Victor Khanye: 438 cases and 425 recoveries and eight deaths.
