Two released on bail in R1,9-million fraud case in Komatipoort
They were released on bail of R10 000 each and the case is postponed to November 20.

The Hawks’ Serious Commercial Investigation Unit arrested two suspects on charges of fraud amounting to R1,9 million yesterday.
According to the Mpumalanga Hawks’ spokesperson, Capt Lucy Dineo Sekgotodi, the pair, Hugo Christiaan le Roux (41) and Rochelle Edith du Plessis (35), appeared in the Komatipoort Magistrate’s Court yesterday after their arrest.

The alleged fraud was committed between 2015 and 2018 when Le Roux was manager of Izusa Carriers in Komatipoort and Du Plessis, who owned HLR Contracting (Pty) Limited, was tasked with the provision of transport services to Izusa Carriers’ clients.
“Both accused issued tax invoices to these existing clients with higher rates for transport services, indicating a deficit to Izusa Carriers and took the differences on the higher rates,” said Sekgotodi.

The money was then allegedly diverted into HLR Contracting’s bank account and the differences paid into the accused’s personal accounts.
This allegedly resulted in losses amounting to R1,9 million for Izusa Carriers.
Le Roux and Du Plessis face more than 500 charges of theft, fraud and money laundering.
They were released on bail of R10 000 each and the case is postponed to November 20.
