Covid-19: Mpumalanga death toll rises to 416 yet active cases decrease to 941
South Africa has recorded 639 362 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Monday, September 7. A total of 25 123 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 23 766 recoveries and 416 deaths to date.
The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District
• Bushbuckridge: 719 cases, 677 recoveries and seven deaths
• City of Mbombela: 4 220 cases, 3 977 recoveries and 27 deaths
• Nkomazi: 1 932 cases, 1 854 recoveries and eight deaths
• Thaba Chweu: 368 cases and 346 recoveries and one death.
Gert Sibande District
• Chief Albert Luthuli: 671 cases, 648 recoveries and eight deaths
• Dipaliseng: 333 cases and 321 recoveries and six death
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 904 cases, 841 recoveries and 18 deaths
• Govan Mbeki: 3 428 cases, 3 265 recoveries and 32 deaths
• Lekwa: 1 080 cases, 995 recoveries and 59 deaths
• Mkhondo: 511 cases, 466 recoveries and 22 deaths
• Msukaligwa: 1 464 cases, 1 352 recoveries and 43 deaths.
Nkangala District
• Dr JS Moroka: 362 cases, 344 recoveries and eight deaths
• eMakhazeni: 398 cases and 366 recoveries and 14 deaths
• eMalahleni: 5 190 cases, 4 986 recoveries and 87 deaths
• Steve Tshwete: 2 487 cases, 2 322 recoveries and 47 deaths
• Thembisile Hani: 608 cases, 580 recoveries and 20 deaths
• Victor Khanye: 448 cases and 426 recoveries and nine deaths.
