Covid-19: Mpumalanga death toll rises to 466 yet active cases decrease to 921
South Africa has recorded 648 214 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Saturday, September 12. A total of 25 676 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga.

According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 24 289 recoveries and 466 deaths to date.
The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District
• Bushbuckridge: 755 cases, 688 recoveries and 16 deaths
• City of Mbombela: 4 383 cases, 4 084 recoveries and 34 deaths
• Nkomazi: 1 970 cases, 1 885 recoveries and 33 deaths
• Thaba Chweu: 375 cases and 350 recoveries and 10 deaths.
Gert Sibande District
• Chief Albert Luthuli: 683 cases, 657 recoveries and eight deaths
• Dipaliseng: 334 cases and 326 recoveries and six death
• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 913 cases, 873 recoveries and 18 deaths
• Govan Mbeki: 3 485 cases, 3 349 recoveries and 32 deaths
• Lekwa: 1 101 cases, 1 011 recoveries and 59 deaths
• Mkhondo: 526 cases, 481 recoveries and 22 deaths
• Msukaligwa: 1 496 cases, 1 395 recoveries and 43 deaths.
Nkangala District
• Dr JS Moroka: 370 cases, 352 recoveries and eight deaths
• eMakhazeni: 407 cases and 375 recoveries and 14 deaths
• eMalahleni: 5 272 cases, 5 056 recoveries and 87 deaths
• Steve Tshwete: 2 541 cases, 2 391 recoveries and 47 deaths
• Thembisile Hani: 615 cases, 585 recoveries and 20 deaths
• Victor Khanye: 450 cases and 431 recoveries and nine deaths.
