WATCH: Local COSATU joins national strike

The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) today embarked on a nation-wide strike against corruption, retrenchment, gender-based violence, unemployment and attacks on collective bargaining.

COSATU members in Mbombela also took to the streets in Nelspruit to add their voices to those of their comrades in the rest of the country.

First Deputy President of COSATU, Mike Shingange, led the strike in Mbombela. Workers gathered at the Mbombela Stadium this morning, after which they proceeded to the offices of the South African Local Government Association (SALGA), Transnet and the Riverside Government Complex to hand over a memorandum to Mpumalanga Premier Refilwe Mtsweni-Tsipane.
