A new beauty queen is crowned

The Face of Ramps-to-Runway Mpumalanga 2020 recently announced its winner at the fabulous finals at Vollies Family Church.

Mbombela resident, Hope Faye (18) was announced as the Face of Ramps-to-Runway Mpumalanga 2020 after a rigorous judging process that saw 18 other young women and one young man compete for the crown.

Held in the hall at the Vollies venue on October 31, the 20 participants, aged between 12 and 22, strutted their stuff for an enthusiastic audience, all cheering and clapping for these beauts.

Hope Faye was named the winner.

The event also gave Pro-Life Pet Rescue, Rehabilitation and Adoption Agency the opportunity to choose two new ambassadors from the top 10.

Ramps-to-Runway owner, Ilze van der Merwe said the entire judging process took a month and involved interviews, photo shoots and a chance to walk the runway.

“We were looking for someone who can serve as an inspiration and a role model to others,” said Van der Merwe.

“Initially, 20 competitors where chosen, then 10 finalists, followed by the top five, and finally the winner with two runners-up. The first runner-up is Kerri-Ann Ley and the second is Nokwanda Shabangu,” she said.

Second-runner up, Nokwanda Shabangu.

Pro-Life Pet Rescue chose Faye as well as top five finalist, Sibusisiwe Shabangu, as their ambassadors. The pet sanctuary’s Karen Erasmus said she was so impressed by all the young people in the contest.

First runner-up, Kerri-Ann Ley.

“It was difficult to pick ambassadors but at the end of the day, I feel we made the right choice.”

Van der Merwe emphasised that each person in the competition did a good job and should be proud of themselves.

Sibusisiwe Shabangu and Hope Faye were chosen as ambassadors for Pro-Life Pet Rescue.

“Every person is victorious, with so much personality and sparkle and they shine brightly, but unfortunately there can only be one winner.”
