Head over to CANSA Nelspruit tomorrow for screening day

CANSA Nelspruit is hosting a screening day on November 25 at its offices at 6 Annecke Street, Sonpark.
Ramphosi Shawe of the organisation said although reservations are essential, people who have not made bookings will not be shown away.
The following tests will be available:

On two previous occasions, screenings were done at Crossing Centre as well as at the Mbombela taxi rank.
While at Crossing Centre, 47 breast examinations were done, 13 of which showed abnormalities. Patients were then referred to Rob Ferreira Hospital.

“Thirteen is a huge number, so we see it as a wake-up call for CANSA to continue educating the community about the importance of doing a breast self-examination every month and how to do it, and then visiting the doctor or clinic should you find anything unusual.
“As an organisation, we are determined to reach as many communities or individuals as we can with free breast screenings,” said Shawe.
At the taxi rank they offered both breast examinations and prostate specific antigen (PSA) tests.
Here, 42 screenings were done, 28 of which were PSA tests and 14 breast exams. Only one abnormality was found during one of the breast examinations.
