WATCH: Rhino dehorning to deter poachers

In the video, Dr Peter Buss can be seen measuring the rhino’s horns before other members of the team remove them. Buss also explains reasons behind the dehorning.

After leaving the dehorning scene last week, the Airwing pilot spotted an about two-day old rhino carcass. According to the Skukuza section ranger, it was between 10 and 15 kilometres from a boundary fence.

It was a sub-adult male, and both its horns were removed. The case is still being investigated.
