TWK donates to PCA, gives little girl chance at life

Nelspruit TWK Agri donated a cheque worth R20 000 to Pediatric Care Africa (PCA) on Monday afternoon that will see a little local girl diagnosed with neuroblastoma get the help she needs.

PCA secretary, Surika van der Merwe said the donation was handed over to PCA by Michael Clemente and Dimpho Malapana “to assist us with medical care for children”.

“TWK is an iconic institution, in the South African agricultural landscape and operates over a wide geographical area of Mpumalanga, KwaZulu-Natal, Eastern Cape, Western Cape, Free State, Limpopo and Gauteng,” said Van der Merwe.

“It is the generosity of organisations such as TWK that makes it possible for us to help children.

“This donation will be used to assist a two-year-old girl who suffers from neuroblastoma which is a solid cancerous tumor on her head and face,” said Van der Merwe.

This little person is going to need intensive surgical and oncological treatment.”

Van der Merwe said the little girl’s journey to recovery would begin this Thursday with a visit to a well-known pediatrician at Mediclinic Nelspruit, Dr Carine Smit.

Smit will assess the little girl and advise PCA and the parents on how to go forward.

“TWK Agri, you gave a little person a chance and for that we thank you very much,” said Van der Merwe.
