Early visit from Santa brings joy to children

Pediatric Care Africa (PCA) organised a Christmas surprise for the children of the city at Crossing Centre on Saturday, with Father Christmas making an appearance, much to the delight of the little ones

Santa set up his station outside Crossing SUPERSPAR on Saturday, bringing joy to the children, while also urging shoppers to contribute to the Build a Sweetie Pack project.

PCA founder, Dr André Hattingh, said the visit was also used as a collection day for donations to the project and they asked shoppers to fill a bag with sweets of their choice.

Each bag had the name and age of the child it would be sent to and was dropped in the donation box.

“They will be distributed together with Christmas presents to the children on in White River on December 16,” said Hattingh.

“The Phakisa Pumas’ mascot and some players will join Father Christmas for the handout.

“The children in Lydenburg will receive their presents and sweetie packs later in December, according to our ‘informant’, who claims to know Father Christmas personally.”

Hattingh thanked the people of Mbombela for their generosity in donating to the sweetie packs.
