Cable repair job left exposed for over a year
An electric cable on a property has been left exposed for a year now despite multiple calls and reports to the City of Mbombela Local Municipality (CMLM) to fix the issue.

A Matumi Golf Estate resident, Zulu Cason, said the electricity to his home was cut off in February last year, but the other properties surrounding him seemed to be unaffected.
“I called them for about a week to try and report the problem and after that week, municipal staff eventually came out to look at it,” said Cason.
He said when CMLM arrived at his house, it discovered, allegedly, that the electrical fault was an issue with a Mbombela cable.

Cason said the team that came to fix the problem did not have cable on hand and so it asked Cason for a piece of electrical wire that the municipal staff linked to the bottom of his neighbour’s meter box.
“My whole house’s electricity is running off this little cable. It’s been over a year now and the cable is exactly the same as when they left it.
“I have made several calls and sent multiple emails, but have not received any feedback. I don’t feel this is very safe for me or the people living around me. However, the experts are just not communicating with me.”
The CMLM spokesperson, Joseph Ngala, had not responded to media queries at the time of going to press.
