Penryn says farewell to stalwart, Grant Williams
Penryn College held a truly South African farewell braai for its executive head, Grant Williams. Williams will start the next chapter of his journey in education at Glenwood House School in George in the Western Cape.
Over the past seven years, Williams served as head of Penryn Preparatory School and later on as executive head.
As head of the preparatory school, he introduced a number of changes and innovations, such as the music laboratory for all our young scholars, and was instrumental in driving the AstroTurf project from Penryn’s side. James Aling, chairperson of the Penryn Council, thanked Williams for his commitment to the school.
“As we bid Grant farewell, we acknowledge his work ethic and we wish him well in his future endeavours in the Western Cape,” he said.
In his farewell message, Williams said it was an honour and privilege to have been a part of this wonderful, truly South African school. “I came to Penryn seven years ago, because it is a unique, special place, where everyone belongs and feels loved and cared for, and where we care for the community around us. When I start at Glenwood House School, I do so equipped with so many valuable skills and so much knowledge gained by being part of the Penryn community. Saying goodbye is difficult, as leaving Penryn is such a sad moment for me. However, the lessons I’ve learned, the friendships made, and the privilege of being partners with you as parents in the education of your children, all mean that Penryn will forever be in my heart and in my blood. I thank you all for your support for Penryn and for myself, and I wish the entire Penryn family everything of the very best for the future. In the words of Dr Seuss: ‘I won’t cry because it’s over. I will smile because it happened’,” he said.
