Young girl with rare illness needs your help
Pediatric Care Africa is gearing up to help with the medical care of a young local girl suffering from a rare illness, and is appealing to the community for help.
Luché Lindeque has been diagnosed with spastic duplegia, affecting her legs, and glucauma, affecting her eyes.
Pediatric Care Africa secretary, Surika van der Merwe, said Luché is in urgent need of a set of orthotic braces. The braces will cost R20 600 per set.
Van der Merwe added that the loan set the little girl had been using had to be returned, leaving her without the braces she needs to improve her walking. “In the interim, horse riding is an excellent exercise for her and she has access to horse riding therapy, but had no saddle.”
Van der Merwe said PCA founder and CEO, Dr André Hattingh, who is an avid horse rider himself, had an extra horse saddle that he has gifted the little girl. The girl had her first ride last weekend.
