GALLERY: Wild Fire sparks movement in local community

Matthew Christopher of Mbombela initiated Wild Fire Fitness with the aim of getting the community moving.

“It started on Freedom Day, where a few friends and I felt the need to gather the community and get them moving,” Christopher said.

“The feedback was incredible, now we are hoping to expand to the rest of Mbombela – to motivate people to start exercising.”

According to Christopher, who is from Nelsville, the initiative was initially directed towards local community members who do not have access to exercise equipment.

“You don’t need equipment, use what you have,” he said.

Christopher stated that Wild Fire Fitness is not focused on a specific age group or community, but on Mbombela in its entirety.

“We want to bring the people in this community together,” he said.

“Anyone and everyone is welcome,” Christopher added. “We are exploring different ways in and around this area to motivate people to exercise.”
