Rotary Club welcomes its new president

Hans Baumgart, who recently retired and moved to White River, was inducted as the new president for the 2021/22 Rotary year.

Every year at the end of June, Rotary Clubs throughout the world induct their new presidents.
This year, due to Covid-19 restrictions, the Rotary Club of White River had a smaller-than-usual lunch at Da Loose Mongoose to mark the occasion.

On July 1, he took over from Joan van Zyl, who did a sterling job of keeping the club going and vibrant during trying times.

He has several ideas for new projects that will benefit many communities in the Lowveld area, and is very excited to fill his new position.

At the same time, Richard Spoor, a well-known local lawyer, was recognised as a Paul Harris Fellow. This is the most prestigious award a Rotary Club can bestow upon an individual. This was done to recognise his work to alleviate the plight of many people such as those suffering from asbestosis.
