Good news for entrepreneurs

Small, medium and micro enterprises (SMMEs) and other services are invited to become part of a new database.

This was announced by Friddah Nkadimeng, the executive mayor of Thaba Chweu Local Municipality (TCLM), when she addressed small business owners during a business information sharing session in Graskop on June 8. The database is an organised way for entrepreneurs to obtain information from the municipality, and in turn, the municipality will have the contact details of these SMMEs when they need a service to be provided.

Local economic development (LED) is an approach that allows and encourages local people to work together to achieve sustainable economic growth and development, thereby bringing economic benefits and improved quality of life for all residents in a local municipal area. This invitation was extended by the TCLM for the LED unit. The LED unit gradually uses the database for record-keeping and SMME support and development, among other reasons. The database focuses on the youth, women, people living with disabilities and previously/historically disadvantaged individuals.

All the SMMEs and service providers that are already on the existing formal database are also encouraged to reapply for the registration, or to be reviewed. Application forms for registrations are available at the TCLM offices in Graskop, Sabie, Mashishing Thusong Centre and Lydenburg at a fee of R50.
