Lowvelder Entrepreneur of the Week: Stephan Greyvenstein

This week's Lowvelder Entrepreneur of the Week is Stephan Greyvenstein, the proud owner of R&W Products.

He creates beautiful furniture pieces made from wood and resin.

He suffered a stroke three years ago, lost most of his eyesight and became partially paralysed on the right side of his body. Despite being challenged, he started his business to give him a new purpose in life.

He started by making wooden toys for the grandson they were expecting. His background of 18 years in video editing and web design gave him enough creativity to design the toys. This new venture soon developed into a fully functioning business.

“The process of making things is very slow due to my physical constraints, but the reward of accomplishing success is a huge motivation to keep going,” said Greyvenstein.

His workshop is based in his garage and through trial and error and several Youtube videos he teaches himself how to better his work every day.

He explained how he uses his profits. “Most of the money I make goes into material and tools I need, but I like to travel. I try to save some funds for this. I would also like to teach others how to work with resin and share my experiences in this way. Hopefully, I’ll soon have the funds and venue for a workshop or two.”

Stephan has been living in the Lowveld for more than 30 years. “I’m a Lowvelder and support local. Without the Lowvelders supporting me, I have no chance of success. We need to help each other,” he said.
