Picking up trash a community effort

Skhila is a well-established township area just outside Lydenburg on the Burgersfort Road. The Skhila Civic Association said it wanted to inspire the youth by cleaning the landfill sites people created next to the main road leading into Skhila. “The current condition of Skhila calls for action to be taken by the residents. We all need to roll up our sleeves, join hands and take care of the area,” said Sello Malibe, chairperson of the Skhila Civic Association (SCA). With this recent cleaning-up campaign, the SCA also handed out food parcels to the needy. It said it was important to keep the youth off the streets and to protect them against potential drug and alcohol abuse.
