Khunal Petroleum Jelly, Burgersfort’s own, is launched
The popularity of petroleum jelly as a skincare product has spanned many decades.
There is a new petroleum jelly in town; it’s produced by Burgersfort locals for the locals. New Khunal petroleum jelly (Setaputapu sa makgonthe) was introduced to the people of Tubatse for the first time on Saturday. The launch of the product was held at Thaba Moshate, Hotel, Casino and Convention Resort’s poolside.

Tubatse attended the launch. Speaking at the event, founders of the product, Rethabile and Andrew Tolo, assured the attendees that petroleum jelly is the best. “Khunal heals minor scrapes and burns. It moisturises your face, hands and body. It prevents your skin from drying out. It can also be used for dry noses during cold seasons. It also helps with cracked heels (Manga le matshengwa, magotšane). It makes your skin glow and it reduces the incidents of diaper rash on babies. It forms a protective barrier that helps protect the skin from constant exposure to moisture. It also prevents peeling skin.”
The founders of the product added, “This is the first black-owned petroleum jelly. It is recommended by health experts. Support local products, it is affordable. Visit your local pharmacy to buy our product.” Steve Ramaila of All Health applauded the Tolos for establishing their own unique product.

The owners handed out gifts packs and people also received 125 millilitres of Khunal petroleum jelly.
