Pair found with police uniforms, rifles and suspected stolen property near Hazyview
The man and woman were arrested near Hazyview on September 22 and are due to appear in court on September 27.
A 29-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman were arrested after being found in possession of police uniforms, equipment and five firearms at Shabalala Trust near Hazyview on September 22.
A provincial police spokesperson, Col Donald Mdhluli, said the police had received information on the whereabouts of a vehicle that had reportedly been robbed during an armed robbery scene.
“In the said incident, two occupants were allegedly held at gunpoint before they were robbed of their vehicle and other properties. The Hazyview police were alerted about the matter, responded swiftly and arrested the two,” said Mdhluli.

“It is said that the car as well as the furniture that were reportedly robbed were recovered. Two revolvers that were reportedly stolen during a residential burglary in Bethal were recovered, as well as hunting rifles and ammunition.”
He said the police had also found some items suspected to have been stolen, as well as hunting equipment. They cannot rule out the possibility of adding more charges and linking them to other crimes committed elsewhere.
The two are due to appear in the White River Magistrate’s Court and KaBokweni Magistrate’s Court on Monday September 27.
