Gaan Bos inniMall rocks the rink with ’80s vibes
Lowvelders enjoyed an afternoon of rock and roll at the i'langa Mall ice rink during this year's Gaan Bos inniMall.
Lowvelders showed off their skating skills today as they glided across i’langa Mall’s The Ice Rink this afternoon to a volley of much-loved ’80s favourites. Rock and Roll at The Ice Rink, part of the Gaan Bos inniMall’s events, saw scores of locals, both young and old, make their way to the rink and skate the afternoon away to the classic sounds of Abba, AC/DC and other popular songs from the ’80s.
Some skaters stayed true to the ’80s theme and dressed in their brightest clothing, donning neon pink and green skirts and earrings. Towards the end of the event, a competition was held to see who the fastest skater of the evening was. Calling the beginner skaters to the side of the rink, those who were more comfortable on the ice glided around, trying to outrace one another without falling over.

The winner was a young Lowvelder, Nina Geldenhuys, who won an i’langa Mall voucher. Although there were several falls, skaters and spectators alike all had a blast.
The event had started at 17:00 on Friday September 24 and ended just after 18:00.
