Golf day honours Rubicon legend
Late afternoon the 19th hole was abuzz as all the players waited for the prize-giving and auctioning of valuable items donated to Rubicon for the day.
The Rubicon annual golf day was held in honour of the late Dave Croxon this year at Mbombela Golf Club on Friday.

Croxon passed away on June 18. He was a former resident of Rubicon and also the organiser of previous golf days.
“With 98 players and 32 sponsors the day was a huge success despite the chilly weather,” said Driekie Heiberg, the general manager of Rubicon Retirement Village.

“The warm atmosphere and friendly participants made up for the weather. On or off the course the success was a team effort. The spirit of living never fades where Rubicon is involved.”

Late afternoon the 19th hole was abuzz as all the players waited for the prize-giving and auctioning of valuable items donated to Rubicon for the day.

Heiberg said they are more than happy with the proceeds from the evening. This will be used for projects to the benefit of all residents.
They will also benefit from the day’s proceeds.

Auction items included a seven-day vacation in Mozambique, a framed picture of Fanie de Villiers (with a signed cricket ball included) and a signed All Black jersey.

Prizes ranged from a selection of wines to various vouchers, gift packets and more.
