Golf day honours Rubicon legend

Late afternoon the 19th hole was abuzz as all the players waited for the prize-giving and auctioning of valuable items donated to Rubicon for the day.

The Rubicon annual golf day was held in honour of the late Dave Croxon this year at Mbombela Golf Club on Friday.

Ross Tapson and Eugene Neumeyer were the winners of the day.

Croxon passed away on June 18. He was a former resident of Rubicon and also the organiser of previous golf days.

“With 98 players and 32 sponsors the day was a huge success despite the chilly weather,” said Driekie Heiberg, the general manager of Rubicon Retirement Village.

Denise West and Winnie Basson were the oldest ladies to compete on the day.

“The warm atmosphere and friendly participants made up for the weather. On or off the course the success was a team effort. The spirit of living never fades where Rubicon is involved.”
